Mahogany Baby is offering exciting unpaid internship opportunities in our fashion and editorial departments. These are offsite positions at this time. We are seeking responsible, proactive and motivated individuals who are eager to learn and make a meaningful contribution. Our interns will participate in a variety of projects, which may include:

Editorial:
• Investigating leads and writing articles
• Fact-checking and proofreading copy
• Assisting Editors on special projects
• Presenting extensive research and data
• Responding to consumer inquiries
• Conducting and transcribing interviews
• Aiding in the coordination of photo shoots
• Liaising with design and production departments
• Attending departmental meetings and events
• Completing administrative tasks and projects

Fashion:
• Viewing the newest collections in the industry
• Assessing apparel and accessories for fashion stories
• Manifesting clothing and cataloging designer samples
• Conducting story and market research
• Assisting with photo shoots
• Organizing photographs
• Completing administrative tasks and projects

Internships are for both students and non-students. The ideal student candidate is majoring in Journalism, Magazine or Newspaper Publishing, English, Writing Communications, Fashion, Merchandising Management or Design. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word is required; familiarity with Outlook and Excel is preferred. Previous experience in editorial and/or fashion is a plus.

If you are not a student, please submit a résumé and cover letter. Students: If you are eligible to receive academic credit, then you must do so. If unable to receive college credit then a letter indicating university support from an accredited educational institution must be submitted. All internships are unpaid.

Candidate must be able to help implement a creative and highly effective sales strategy; s/he will be responsible for creating and managing their own book of business. Candidate must be enthusiastic about taking on considerable responsibility, helping to grow a magazine and build a young company. S/he must be self-motivated, creative, and performance-oriented. Ideal candidate will be energetic, a proven team-player and have start-up experience.

Candidate should have sales experience as well client and agency contacts in one or more of the following categories:

- Baby Care
- Toys
- Home Related
- Fashion and Beauty
- Automotive
- Media and Advertising
- Financial Services
- Travel and Entertainment
- Consumer electronics and telecom

Excitement and sense of purpose are guaranteed. This is an offsite, commission-based position.
