Spotlight: Jamez Williams
Born
and raised in Brooklyn, New York to a single parent household,
Jamez's determination to improve the quality of life was
imbedded in him at a very young age. A strong believer in
education and knowledge, he was determined to succeed in
getting beyond high school by obtaining various degrees
(he became a teenage parent with a newfound responsibility,
and then later a single parent, but his dream was never
wavered). After working various jobs to support his child
and through intense trials and tribulations, he was able
to succeed his dream of earning two degrees in less than
four years. Jamez holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business
Administration from Audrey Cohen College where he graduated
with double honors and an MBA in General Management from
Metropolitan College of New York.
"I came
from a broken home where my mother taught us how to survive
by way of reading and using our minds to think creatively.
Education was big in our house despite not being comfortable
financially. My father fell victim to the streets and has
been in various prisons in New York State (therefore I know
what it is like to grow up without a father around the home).
I also know what it is like to be hungry, cold, and not
have the best clothes. However, I knew that despite whatever
problems plagued me, I could overcome them and make a difference
in the world that I want to live in, with the life that
I chose to live. That responsibility is mine."
A budding entrepreneur,
author, motivational speaker, and a single parent, Jamez
is very compassionate about the changes he make in peoples'
lives on a daily basis. His belief system that "success
starts in the mind, the heart, and the choices that you
make" is a catalyst for change that he uses in his
intense, emotional brand of speaking. His new passion is
to bring that message to our youth and the people in their
communities. He believes that "there is enough knowledge
in the world for each person to be a walking, breathing
public service announcement. If people are shown how to
clarify their dreams they will better themselves without
too much complication."
Jamez is determined
to make a profound difference in the way people make their
everyday life decisions. He would like to aid in how teenage
fathers and mothers communicate to nurture the next generation
of our children.
