The Walking Deck
Walking as little as 30 minutes a
day is one of the easiest and safest ways to manage weight,
keep in shape, and reduce stress. Studies show that the
benefits that come from simply walking can be enormous!
Regular and moderate walking can reduce the risk of heart

lot of information and even bigger benefits, The Walking
Deck is a wonderful gift of health and well-being. Best
of all, anyone can do it. Walking does not cost money, takes

When He Calls [for
tweens]
Review by Angie Pickett-Henderson
When
He Calls is the coming of age novel that follows the life
of Tonya Henderson. Tonya is not your typical young lady
she is trying to follow in the footsteps of Christ. When
He Calls opens with Tonya being the victim of a brutal
attack. During her recovery period she thinks back on
her life, from adolescence to adulthood.
Growing up a child of a deacon, Tonya was always taught
to be a Christian. Facing the same pressures that most
kids go through she shows us how she dealt with temptation
as a believer. We also meet Tonya’s best friends,
Lisa, Denise and Sasha. Being from different backgrounds,
the foursome didn’t always handle situations the
same. We learn how one of these young ladies makes a choice
that affects her and her friends for the rest of their
lives.
Ms. Gordon-Love has written a beautifully inspirational
novel. When He Calls, makes us realize how the choices
we make in life can come back to haunt us. It also teaches
us that Christ is the only way. Although this novel was
written to educate our youth, each of us can learn a valuable
lesson from it.
Baby Gami: Baby
Wrapping for Beginners
Origami meets the age-old art
of swaddling in Baby-Gami and no longer does baby wrapping
have to be an intimidating undertaking. Easy-to-follow
instructions illustrated with step-by-step diagrams
and unbearably cute photographs make it a cinch to execute
flawless wraps. The first part of the book offers a
variety of cocoon-like styles for newborns; the second
shows parents how to create slings for "wearing"
older babies.
Once new parents master
the basic swaddles and slings, they can branch out into
more pizazzy terrain. Try the Picnic Wrap, the Glamour
Sling, or the satin and tulle Gift Wrap. With advice
from experts and real parents, tips on baby-carrying,
baby-soothing, and a rundown of items not to wrap your
baby in, Baby-Gami is a must-have for any new parent.
Film
Madagascar
Review by Wilma Ann Anderson
The setting is the Central Park Zoo. The
stars are...you guesed it--animals. The star performing
lion Alex (voiced by Ben Stiller), neurotic giraffe Melman
(David Schwimmer), and sensible hippo Gloria (Jada Pinkett-Smith),
and depressed zebra Marty (Chris Rock) are the ones to watch.
Marty's a lot less content with his rote life on display
in the zoo and desires to rome free in the wild. His friends
think he's crazy for wanting to leave "the good life."
Marty's ambition overrides his friends' unconvincing persuasion
and we are all led on a safari ride. Certain moments were
predictable, but I believe a kids' movie should have some
predictability; kids want a happy ending or at least a comfortable
resolution. This movie provides that and lots of laughs
along the way.
